Caring for orphans is a significant part of Islam. Orphans are mentioned 22 times in the Qur’an; their mistreatment is a serious sin, while nurturing and sponsoring them is an immensely valuable good deed.
The Prophet ﷺ said, ‘The one who cares for an orphan and myself will be together in Paradise like this’, and He ﷺ held his two fingers together to illustrate. [Bukhari]
Unexpected severe financial interruption!
As all of us were interrupted by Covid-19, The Shafar Orphanage suffered severe financial interruptions due to the plummet of donations. Shafar Orphanage still continues to educate the children with the little savings they have.
However, prolonged Covid-19 lockdowns has caused plummeting of donations.
EMO [Erth Al-Mustafa Organisation] has been working with Shafar Orphanage for 3 years in providing Islamic and Academic education for the Orphans and Children in need.
The Shafar Orphanage has been caring for Orphans and Children in need for the last 7 years. The students are all girls. The orphanage have successfully educated almost 100 girls. Girls as young as 7 to 12 years old stay in the Orphanage home.
